The 'E' stands for expensive for if you buy directly from Pentax AU, you'll be up for AUD$50 + shipping.
I bought mine from CamBuy (au) for much less but I must say I was very surprised when I opened the package!
This thing is tiny!.........
Works for all my Pentax cameras...

Yep, I tried those cheap ebay $1.20 remotes.. Rubbish. They would never work without removing the battery and putting it back in first, even then the 'button' wouldn't respond unless you held your mouth right. I bought three at once, all the same. Batteries were [and still are] good.

I always use remote control (still have to stop myself writing ' cable release' :) ) when the tripod is up, and mirror up as well. I tried live view on the tripod a few times, it can be useful for focussing, and then the mirrors already up so you only need one press to shoot, but its not the same feeling as raising the mirror, waiting ... (all those nasty vibrations finished?) , hold breath (WHY?), gentle press on the remote (WHY gentle? :D ) ... It all just feels better! Now if any of you want to try all that out I'll sure I've got a checklist of it somewhere ....

Anyway ... Steve, that remote E ... The K7 uses remote F, does that mean the E is an earlier version, our just for different cameras?

with live view when you shoot lie view disabled and the mirro lowers before the shot is taken as per normal the nmirro is raised again to return to live view.

I normally use 2 second time on tripod as that raises the mirror 2 seconds before the shot is taken. :)

It's the same as the 'F' but the 'E' also has a Variable speed zoom control button which I've not even tested yet. I assume it'll work with the MX-1.
I would have bought the 'F' if it was on special at the vendor, but only the 'E' was at the time.

FYI: The zoom button works fine with the MX-1 - of course if you are in front of the camera you can't tell to what length you are zooming :D
